The 5-year Integrated Master Degree in Law (LLB + LLM) 2024/2025 is characterised by a streamlined and modern curriculum. The initial common three-year period is aimed at creating a solid foundation and building a robust cultural background, through a series of compulsory modules that ensure the fundamental knowledge and skills of the legal professions. In the two-year specialised period (fourth and fifth years), students have the opportunity to choose between three specialisations ('Forensics'; 'Business, Labour and Public Administration'; 'International and European'), customising their study plan with optional subjects,a Legal Workshop different for each course, and the completion of a professionalising curricular internship. Studies conclude with the drafting and discussion of the degree thesis, to which 18 CFU are attributed.
The most brilliant students will have the opportunity to obtain a double Italian-Spanish degree (Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza (University of Messina) and Grado en Derecho (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha) by attending the fourth year and the first semester of the fifth year at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
The 5-year Integrated Master Degree in Law aims to provide graduates with a full knowledge of basic national, European and international legal culture. At the end of the course, graduates will have acquired the interpretative, case-analysis, legal qualification, comprehension, representation, and evaluation skills necessary for tackling any professional legal problem.
The teaching offer is increasingly oriented towards an international perspective, both with the activation of modules taught in foreign languages and with the offer of (a) short modules taught by visiting professors, (b) moot competitions, (c) preparatory courses for diplomatic simulations, (d) study visits abroad, at international organisations and European institutions, and (e) a dense network of international relations, structured in Erasmus conventions or arising from valuable scientific-institutional and research partnerships.
Year I. The first year focuses on the study of the basics of roman law, private law, constitutional law and international law, as well as philosophical reflection on law and the historical origin of Western legal systems.
Year II. In Year II you will study criminal law, private law, European Union law, and European private law or comparative public law. Alternatively, ecclesiastical law or canon law is studied.
Year III. The third year is characterised by the study of Administrative Law, Commercial Law, Civil Procedure, and the in-depth study of criminal, historical and Romanist subjects.
Fourth Year. The fourth year is devoted to the study of administrative law and criminal proceedings, tax law and labour law, and to an in-depth study of constitutional law.
Fifth Year. The fifth year includes the study of the fundamentals of public economics, in-depth study of civil law, legal interpretation and argumentation, and specialised subjects, such as navigation law and agricultural law.
In the final year of the course, there will be a different Legal Workshop for each pathway and a compulsory internship.
The 5-year Integrated Master Degree in Law is the only course giving access to the traditional legal professions (judiciary, advocacy, notary).
It is also advised for those who want to participate in the selection for jobs in the public administration, the Armed Forces, the State Corps, those who are interested in the diplomatic and prefectorial career, the employment in national and foreign institutions, in business management roles, and in international and European Union contexts. It enables students to take part in the selection for teaching legal and economic disciplines in secondary schools.
Students who obtain the 5-year Integrated Master Degree in Law acquire a high level of professionalism and skills that will make them very attractive in the job market. Those who wish to pursue their studies further have the opportunity to register for one of the postgraduate courses offered by the Department of Law.

The 5-year Integrated Master Degree in Law is offered at both the Messina campus of the 'S. Pugliatti' Department of Law and the Priolo Gargallo (SR) campus, which is accredited by MIUR.
In order to carry out its activities at the Messina site, the Course makes use of all the classrooms, facilities, and offices of the Department of Law.
